Questions before boarding

Will my phone work with an eSIM?

Most phones from 2019 onward support eSIM — iPhone XS and newer, Pixel 3+, Galaxy S20+. Dial *#06# and look for an EID to confirm.

How do I install my eSIM?

After you order you get a QR code. Scan it in your phone's settings to add the eSIM; you need an internet connection, such as Wi-Fi, for that. Each plan is valid for the number of days shown on it.

Can I keep WhatsApp and my number?

Yes. Your physical SIM stays in place for calls and texts; esimrails handles data, so WhatsApp and iMessage keep your number.

What if I run out of data?

Top up in one tap from your account — no new QR code, no reinstall.

China: how much does an eSIM cost?

Plans start at $5.99 and go up to $207.99, depending on the data and the number of days. The lowest price per GB is $2.08.

China: how much data and how many days can I get?

Data options: 1 GB, 2 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB, 50 GB, and 100 GB. Unlimited plans are also available. Plan lengths: 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days, 10 days, 15 days, and 30 days. Unlimited plans are fair use: after a high-speed data allowance, which depends on the plan, your speed may be reduced.

China: which networks do the eSIM plans use?

Networks listed on the plans: China Telecom. What you connect to depends on the network and on where you are.
